Local Food

Local Food.  What does it mean to you?

Local food to us mean that it comes from Manitoulin Island! The term Farm to table applies to Buoys. We source as much food from the Island as seasonally possible. The most common local source of food comes just 8.7km. Burt Farm supplies Buoys with our burgers, sausage, pepperoni, ham. We also make our meat ball with their ground beef. Burt's also supplies us with pork shoulders & pork butts. We then smoke it onsite for 10-12 hours, which creates an amazing flavour in our Pulled Pork sandwiches  & on our pizzas.

The farmers market here in Gore Bay Starts Friday May Holiday weekend from 9 am to 1 pm and goes right through to  Friday of Thanksgiving.
Established in 1989. It has moved from the Hockey arena to it's current location on the waterfront next to the Gore Bay Marina. When in season, we buy fresh produce from the local vendors at the market.

The contact for the Gore Bay Farmers market is Ted Smith. You can reach him by email: gypsyfarmilyfarm@ontera.net
